मरुद्भि: पीड्यमानोऽपि

सुभाषितम्

मरुद्भि: पीड्यमानोऽपि संत्यक्तोऽपि दिवानिशम् ।
विषयस्नेहरहितो रत्नदीप: प्रकाशते ॥

सुभाषितनीवी- ७/७

marudbhi: pīḍyamāno'pi saṃtyakto'pi divāniśam ।
viṣayasneharahito ratnadīpa: prakāśate ॥

पदच्छेदः

मरुद्भिः, पीड्यमानः, अपि, संत्यक्तः, अपि, दिवानिशम्, विषयस्नेहरहितः, रत्नदीपः, प्रकाशते ॥

तात्पर्यम्

यथा रत्नरूपी दीप: (उदाहरणं - हीर: ) वायुना प्रहृत: अपि ,विना तैलमपि, विना अवधानमपि नैरन्तर्येण प्रकाशते , तथैव य: शब्दस्पर्शरूपरसगन्धादीन्द्रियसुखेषु समानचित्त: सन् संयमपूर्वकजीवनयापनं करोति, स: अहर्निशं (सर्वदा)प्रकाशते ।

आङ्ग्लार्थः

Just as a lamp in the form of a gem (e.g., a diamond) continuously shines even when struck by the wind, without oil, or without attention, so one who lives a restrained life with the same mind on the pleasures of the senses such as sound, touch, form, taste and smell shines (always).
